Contest rules
The rules that decide a contest
These rules apply to every Meroviks contest, paid and free. Where a contest states a term of its own, that term applies in addition to these.
1. Entering
One entry per account per contest unless the contest states otherwise. Entering requires an account, and a paid entry additionally requires a verified age of 18 or over and residence in an eligible territory. The entry fee is taken from your balance at the moment of entry.
2. Building a lineup
A lineup must fill every slot for the discipline, must not exceed the salary cap, and must not contain more than three players from one team. A lineup that breaches any of these is not accepted.
3. Editing and withdrawal
A lineup may be edited as often as you like until lock. You may withdraw an entry and receive a full refund at any time before lock, provided the contest has not already reached its field limit.
4. Lock
Lock occurs at the scheduled start of the first match on the slate, as published by the tournament organiser. If that match is delayed, lock still occurs at the originally scheduled time — a delay never reopens lineups.
5. Players who do not appear
A selected player who does not play scores zero. There is no substitution and no refund, because the risk of a late roster change is part of the selection judgement the contest is asking you to make.
6. Stand-ins
A stand-in is scored as themselves. If a stand-in was named before contest open, they appear in the pool with their own salary. If a stand-in is named after lock, the player you selected scores zero under rule 5.
7. Cancelled and abandoned matches
A match that does not take place scores zero for every entrant equally. If cancellations remove more than half of the slate, the contest is cancelled and every entry fee is returned in full.
8. Forfeits and technical losses
Where a match is awarded without being played, no statistics exist and every player in it scores zero. Where a map is partially played and then awarded, the statistics recorded up to the point of abandonment stand.
9. Rescheduled matches
A match moved outside the contest day is treated as cancelled for that contest under rule 7. It is not carried into the following day’s contest.
10. Settlement and corrections
Contests settle from the final statistics supplied by our data provider. Where the provider issues a correction within 72 hours of the match, the contest is re-settled and balances are adjusted in both directions. After 72 hours a settled contest is final.
11. Format-specific rules
Head-to-Head is a field of two: the winner takes both entry fees less rake, and a tie splits the pool. In a 50/50 the top half of the field each receive an equal share — with an odd number of entries the odd place is not paid, and a tie on the cut line splits the paid and unpaid places between the tied entrants. Best-Ball drafts a bench of eight once for a whole series: on each day the best five scores of that bench count and the rest do not, so no daily lineup change is possible or needed.
12. Ties
Tied entrants split the sum of the places they occupy, divided equally and rounded down to the cent, with any remainder going to the highest tied place.
13. Conflicts of interest
You may not enter a contest covering a match in which you are a competitor, a coach, a member of team or tournament staff, or an official. The same applies to our own staff and their immediate households, for every contest.
14. Integrity
Multiple accounts, entry on behalf of another person, automated lineup submission and any arrangement to share lineups for the purpose of covering a field are prohibited. Entries found in breach are voided and the fee returned; repeated breach closes the account.
15. Disputes
Raise a dispute through support within 72 hours of settlement. We will show the statistics the settlement was calculated from and the scoring lines applied. Where the underlying statistic is disputed, the provider’s record is what we settle on.
